After the release of the original Vinx LP, "Through Colored Folks Eyes" released 2004 on Elephunk Records (A Basement Boys Label), Teddy Douglas has re-imagined and remixed a 3 song EP to kick off Black History Month. The subject matter of the amazing Black Boy song is relevant today as it was in the 70s. The jazzy piano genius of Lafayette Gilcrest is a perfect combination to the song styling of Vinx story telling. "Through Colored Folks Eyes" soars at the end with the harmonica solo and the New Jersey Mass Choir. The EP closes with an up tempo Latin jam that has a hopeful message that "Tomorrow" is another day. Look out for "Black Boy" remixes spring 2023!! This hot hypnotic jam was released last year on the Monday Night Studio Sessions LP. Now receiving the treatment from Legendary producer remixer Geoffrey C. The track was a big favorite of Teddy at the famed Monday Night Studio sessions@ Rockwell in Baltimore.

Now finally available and well worth the wait. The synths and strings remind us of the throwback 80's John Rocca sound. Geoffrey whips the remix into a peak hour floor filler.

The Teddy Douglas, Dj Greg Lewis edit is essential for your dance floor. Also provided are bonus beats from the LP version.

“We Belong Together” contains four mixes.  The  main living room Peak Hour Mix opens up with hi-powered, dense bottoms and percussive elements that build into insistent key stabs then suddenly dives into this ear grabbing, drama-filled, twinkling symphonic break as Byron gently caresses the first ad libs lines over this enchanting orchestration.  From there, the sweet R&B “boogie” style chords become the platform for the verses, neatly placed horn accents dot across the full production.   The chorus is a killer; Byron slays the lyric as he always does in his exquisite, soulful pleading falsetto telling the object of his affection, “We Belong Together”. The Monday Night Vocal Mix goes a step further with percolating congas and swinging violins that accentuate the well-paced drums and percussion of this delectable mix.  The brassy horns sing in tandem with Byron as he tugs on the heartstrings with his romantic, chromatic vocal ad libs and signature riffs.  The sugar-laden strings and sparkling pianos brings to mind the 90's Ten City production  of Marshall Jefferson     DJ/songwriter/musician/producer, Maurice Fulton is one of House music’s true originals, back where he started .  Maurice had the first release on Basement Boys records with Sticky People "Kong"  .He is considered by some aficionados as the “Jimi Hendrix of House music” with a mind blowing complexity behind all that is deep, dark and funky.  As per the webzine, Resident Advisor, “Maurice is the toast of both the underground House and Leftfield scenes with an enviable back catalogue”. The Maurice Fulton mix takes a more soulful tech approach employing a host of electro sounds.  The multi-toned, percussive wind chime effect seductively caress each other into a fervent polyrhythmic vortex, and pulsating underneath this rhythmic melodic interplay are classic snares, tom toms & hi-hats, deep sub bass and a meaty kick all define a masterful alignment of electro and acoustic elements.  At the midway point, Maurice turns the suspense-filled symphonic intro from the previous mixes into this electro breakdown groove fest sure to drive dancers into a frenzy!   On top of this tech-driven soundscape, Byron delivers the heartfelt lyric.

Basement Boys Records proudly present the second powerhouse single from the highly anticipated, “Monday Night Studio Session LP, Nobody’s Fool by the celebrated Soul/R&B/Funk/House empress, Rochelle Fleming who, as founder & lead vocalist for the world-renowned female trio, First Choice whose timeless mega-hits such as Doctor Love, Let No Man Put Asunder, Double Cross and Love Thang. These classics continue to inspire generations of global DJ’s, producers, vocalists, and music lovers.

Nobody’s Fool is a Disco-inspired, 4-to-the-floor, high-energy juggernaut that pulls no punches. Teddy Douglas' production is turned up and out in front, and serves like none other! Borrowing from the vocal house template of the early 90s and tailored for today’s contemporary Soulful House music aficionados, this production stands firmly in its distinctive flavor. Punchy bottoms, insistent hi-hats, and percussion support the R&B tinged, jazzy multi-layered sweet-sounding keys, and rumbling, moving live bass.

Rochelle’s vocal rhythmic gymnastics is masterful; she presents her affirmation with verve and backs up her claim that she may be a lot of things, but she’s nobody’s fool! The inventive lyric and lyrical melodies build to this funky, catchy, rapid-fire vamp and Rochelle brings it home as only she can. This is a definite add-on to any Soulful House DJ’s playlist who prefers a little diversity to spice up their dance floor or mix show. The “Instrumental Monday Night Studio Sessions Groove Mix” is included. Be on the lookout for the Monday Night Studio Session LP slated for release this fall.

The legendary Jasper Street Co. returns!!! After their stellar Southport Weekender and Camelot performances with the Basement Boys last year in the UK, it was inevitable that J.S.C. would soon be back in the studio recording once more. Upon their arrival back to Baltimore, Teddy Douglas, Dj Spen, Karizma, and Thommy Davis came together with Dj Greg Lewis for the "Basement Sessions" producing the foundation for the first J.S.C. release in over 10 years. The talents of musicians/songwriters Wayne Cooper and Hozay Clowney are displayed with classic church organ and rhythm guitar riffs creating that ole' foot stompin', good time in the basement feel that J.S.C. is known for. The lyrics are written and sung by Tracy Hamlin , Vonita White and long time collaborator Randy Roberts who penned many J.S.C. classic hits like "Praisin His Name", "Solid Ground", "Smile", and "God Helps Those (Who Help Themselves)". We know that you will enjoy every minute of this long awaited labor of love!!! "Reach"! Keyboards by Hozay Clowney Guitar by Wayne Cooper Drums Dj Spen, Thommy Davis, Teddy Douglas & Karizma Recorded at Blacklist Media Baltimore, MD. Additional vocals recorded at Bratt Studio by Bill Pratt

Fleming and Douglas co-wrote the track along with Hozay Clowney ( Diddy, Faith Evans) and Fleming's personal manager, George "Iz" Correia. Celebrating 40 years in the music business, Rochelle has continued to have a major presence in House music due to the countless samples of her vocals. "I'm Gonna Give it to You" marks the first time Fleming collaborated with Douglas and speaks fondly of their new relationship. "I felt really comfortable working with Teddy. He reminded me so much of Norman Harris and I'm looking forward to working with him on future projects."

Now remixed by label owner Legendary DJ Producer Teddy Douglas along with Hozay Clowney and Dj Greg Lewis. Critically and crowd-acclaimed house music producer Kai Alce and sassy vocalist Kayenne have teamed up once more for the latest NDATL release, "Love Don't Love You Back". Kayenne, a spicy yet sultry bayou beauty, arrived in Atlanta from Baton Rouge, La., in 2002 to sprinkle a little heat into the music world. Her relatable lyrics and convincing vocal delivery connect with listeners, making them feel as if she's just given them a piece of her soul. That holds true with "Love Don't Love You Back", which Kayenne wrote with Alce's production in mind. Though her music has soulful elements, you can hear the rock and alternative influences of Terence Trent D'Arby and Pat Benatar, and a smoothness in the likeness of Amel Larrieux. Since her beginnings at Hendu and Crossover Studio around 2003, the raspy-voiced singer has worked with noted Atlanta artists and producers such as Bobby Valentino, Armando Colone and Isaac Hayes III. In 2007, VIBE magazine and Creative Loafing newsweekly both spotlighted Kayenne as a new artist worth watching - and listening to. In a continued effort to diversify her sound, she began writing with such underground dance producers as Justin Chapman of KemeticJust, and later Kai Alce. In 2010, Alce and Kayenne would release the breakout No. 1 charting single "Someone", with help from veteran producer Phil Asher of Restless Soul. Carefully nurturing her new found genre, Kayenne and Alce continue to collaborate on future singles and projects. Their latest single, "Love Don't Love You Back", keeps the lyrics simple, which makes the words of un-returned love more relatable. The tune starts out like a slow burn, with Kayenne's singing reminiscent of the embers of a passionate love gone wrong. Before long, her voice - and the groove - bursts into flames and engulfs the listener. The backbeat is particularly notable, drawing you in as much as the heartfelt lyrics. The melody may be light, perfectly accompanying Kayenne's voice, but there's an unmistakable deep house base that makes the tune worth turning up. Just in time to raise the temperature on dance floors globally this summer, "Love Don't Love You Back" is set for release in April on legendary dance label Basement Boys Records, with remixes from label owner Teddy Douglas to follow. Special Thanx to Rick Corey, Byron The Aquarius & Terry Roanoke, DJ Swift for the dope video!

Horns: P-Funk Horns- Benny Cowan, Greg Thomas Guitar: Wayne Cooper Piano: Hozay Clowney Drums: Teddy Douglas THE STORY OF MUDFOOT JONES Born Maurice Jones in the Bayou of Louisiana, he got the name he is most known for from being heavy on the bass drum, when he played the drums. He plays almost any instrument and sings a little too. One day at BB King's rehearsal, BB called out,"Hey Mudfoot! Can you turn it down some, son!". And the name "Mudfoot" stuck to him like glue. Since then he has played various instruments with everybody from John Lee Hooker to Herbie Mann. Traveled the world many times over, as a legendary sideman with just about everybody who's somebody. Early last year on a flight to Japan, Teddy Douglas (a big Mudfoot fan) traveling to DJ Gigs in Japan, just happened to be seated next to Mudfoot (also headed to Japan for gigs). Fate was working it's magic on that flight! It took 12 hours to convince Mudfoot to record an album with the Basement Boys. It would be his first time solo album. With writing and producing from the Basement Boys, the collaboration is a magical mix of Blues, Jazz, Gospel, and Latin Rhythms that created tracks of down home, get up and get down music for everyone.

Two Basment Boys classic tracks brought up to date for Miami 2006, sure to rock the floor!! DJ Teddy Douglas re-edits the early Basement Boys Records release (BBR014) by DJ Oji - Paradox EP- "SCATTMASTERS". This bangin' re-edit makes this 1997 release sound like it was released in January 2006. Taken from the Basement Boys Productions new 3 CD Anthology. This single shows how relevant this classic piece of electronica can be with a hot new edit. This will bang in all kinds of venues this spring like it is a brand new cut. Scattmasters is electronica, dance funk reminiscent of the classic Martin Circus updated. The Karizma remix of THE CARIBOU by Teddy Douglas. The Caribou was DJ Teddy Douglas's follow up to the incredible Violin. It features Francesco the Violin- the incedible violinist featured on the original Violin. This incredible remix was only previously available as part of the limited edition 15th Anniversary Box Set of Vinyl. Many who missed that limited pressing have been requesting its re-release. Here it is!! This mix is not part of the Anthology.
